On Monday, March 28, gunmen allegedly attacked some early morning travelers in Enugu State.

The passengers may have been attempting to beat the sit-at-home protest before colliding with the shooters, according to the Nigerian Tribune.

The attackers reportedly surrounded the New Market area and started fire on the passengers.

Two persons were killed, according to an eyewitness, while several more were injured by bullet wounds.

"Early this morning, gunmen opened fire near Colliery Hospital, which is located near Aria (New Market) in Enugu. and killed some commuters on their way to work in the morning, as well as injuring others, "a witness asserted

"Police who came after the incident transported some of the victims with gunshot wounds to ESUT Parklane hospital, including one hit in the stomach with his intestines outside." Another woman's leg has been punctured by a bullet."

However, ASP Daniel Nduke, a spokesperson for the State Police Command, stated that two people were hurt in a gunshot incident, but that no one was killed.

"There was no such assassination attempt. Rather, there was a shooting incident in the early hours of this morning at Odegba, along Iva Valley Road, Enugu, by yet-to-be identified armed guys, which resulted in the injuries of two people," the PPRO added.

"However, the victims are responding to treatment at the hospital, where they were quickly transported by police officers who responded quickly to a distress call about the incident." Meanwhile, an inquiry has been begun to apprehend the fleeing criminals.
