Anambra To Get Additional Voter Registration Machines

To ensure that no citizen is disenfranchised in the 2023 General Election,  the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, has promised to bring in additional Voter Registration Machines to some States especially Anambra and other States where there have been reports of surge to clear up the queues.

The Chairman of INEC, Professor Mahmood Yakubu, who made the promise at an interactive forum with electorates in Abuja, urged the Anambra State Resident Electoral Commissioner, to liase with security agencies and stakeholders in Ihiala, Nnewi, Ogbaru and Ayamelum local government areas where Continuous Voter Registration is currently suspended owing to insecurity to ensure they are opened for registration.

He further promised that the Commission will always listen to Nigerians and work towards adhering to their desires so as to help consolidate democracy.

The Chairman pledged that INEC will not disenfranchise Nigerians hence it will ensure that every willing citizen is registered and collect their PVCs to enable them vote on election day.

He, however, implored the citizenry to read the electoral law carefully so as not to be led astray and should go beyond registration.

The INEC boss urged citizens to report any complaints or misconduct by INEC officials to their state REC with the specific location of infraction.
